Whenever I take a trip I always make a point to visit the local cemeteries and look for "famous" folks that might be buried there. CW generals are photographed and checked off my list. I am working my way, slowly, through making a photographic catalog of burial sites. Over the next few days I will post some of the ones I have so far.

This is a great idea and your pictures are awesome! I just visited Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond a few months ago. I found several gravesites that were on my list including George Pickett's, Jeb Stuart's, Jefferson Davis' and the Longstreet children. I thought it was neat that Stephen Lang had donated a bench that was placed next to Pickett's grave. It was also interesting seeing the inscriptions on LaSalle's, Flora's, Varina's and Winnie's.

Great photos as usual, mt155, they remind me of one of Troiani's or Kunstler's paintings, rather than photographs.

I'm guessing you have one of the General buried in Jefferson,Texas with our famously difficult to photograph pink granite gravestone.

I had a great opportunity to do that in Pittsburgh last year. Went to the wrong freaking place and didn't even know it until I got back.
