The 155th Anniversary of the battle of Ft. Stevens in Washington, DC last Sat. was a huge success! There were more spectators and more media coverage than any event I've done there since the 150th. Kudos to the NPS for organizing and coordinating a full day that included a host of activities, from period dancing to lectures on the battle, firing demos for muskets and artillery, and of course my favorite, fife and drum field music. There were other period musicians, as well as historians and a variety of other historical interpreters, including some you don't get to see very often, such as USCT and civilian government clerks that took up arms and manned the fort.
Here's a news report on the event by the local TV station WTOP. At several places you can hear my fife and drum group, the Monocacy Field Music playing in the background:

Here's a story on the event from the Washington Post--I love the title: "If you can't stand the heat, don't be a Civil War reenactor"

This is a video of us playing a popular fife and drum medley of two tunes, "Old 1812" and "Welcome Here Again" which sound very similar but are from different time periods.

Really looking forward to doing this event again next year!
