SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) — A cable TV history show with a new season focusing on the American Civil War is filming in Georgia this weekend.

The Savannah Morning News reports (http://bit.ly/I1Z82A ) the series "American Ride" is filming at Fort Pulaski in Savannah.

Fort Pulaski was where, in 1862, the Union Army successfully tested a rifled canon, rendering brick fortifications obsolete.

Host Stan Ellsworth says Savannah radiates a historical reverence. He says Fort Pulaski came to symbolize 19th century military technology with the rifled cannon.

"American Ride" is currently travelling throughout the South visiting sites that help tell the story of the Civil War. The show is currently filming its third season.
The episode featuring Fort Pulaski is scheduled to air next fall.
