The first bullets I ever found. Found in the camp of the 77th New York, at a post Gettysburg camp, over looking the Rappahannock river, next to a stone wall.

In theory, all these pieces could possibly represent one exploded canister shell? Grouped together as you show, it is highly impressive.

These were pretty scattered. The lead case shot came out of a Bormann shell, while the iron case shot came out of a Hotchkiss shell. The iron shot was a part of a groundburst shell. The fragments are a mixture of Hotchkiss pieces, and Bormann pieces.

I found a groundburst shell, but a previous relic hunter took all the big pieces, and left me with the small ones. In a way, I can't blame him, but it would have been nice.

I do my best to make sure every piece of known information about something is recorded, then I try and find the unknown. Currently, I'm trying to find out which battery fired those shells.

This button is my shining glory. I found this at Harts Ford, in Culpeper County Virginia. J.E.B. Stuart and his staff supposedly visited the old house that was beside the ford a time or two during the war. The house is in ruins now.
