Michael Sullivan of the 69th New York died at Andersonville after being captured at Spotsylvania. I'm looking to find out Michael's background and the names of any relatives. Thanks in advance.

Lots of Michael Sullivan's from New York! Here's his record from the NYS adjutant report -

You might want to try a Facebook group called Descendants of Andersonville Prison. I think there was someone on there recently who was looking for info on someone from the 69 NY.

And I've never come across cerebritis as a cause of death before. My first thought was that it may be a misreading of "Sorbitus" which was one of the top three causes of death at Andersonville (cerebritis is a brain inflammation; sorbitus is another word for "Scurvy.")

Thanks for all the replies. I appreciate it. I came across Michael here https://irishamericancivilwar.com/andersonville-irish/
It says he was from Faha, Adrigole, Co. Cork. I was curious about his family and the names of his parents or siblings. Also anything about his life in New York. Sullivan is a super common name in the Adrigole area. I started to do research but need additional info besides the Sullivan last name. BTW https://irishamericancivilwar.com/andersonville-irish/ is a terrific site.

It might be possible to track him in NYC but it would be tough.
