I was at a small local cemetary awhile back that had a confederate grave. Frisby McCullough who was essentially murdered by union troops. Frisby certainly recognised so in his last words.

Now someone had stuck a miniature US flag on the monument, I was tempted to remove it, but left it thinking it might been an ancestor who left it....however bizarre. Or perhaps someone not familiar with his death.
Now certainly in cases of Confederate veterans who survived the war, wouldn't think anything of it as they died Americans.
But in cases like this, do you think its appropriate? Would it be appropriate to put Confederate flags on Union veterans graves who died during the war?

Listed on the plaque at the Forest Llewellyn cemetery in Kirksville as Frisbie McCullough. The only probable finding in the Missouri 1860 census is in the Round Grove Twp. of Marion County -- Frisbey McCullough age 32, Ella M age 23, Eliza G age 1. Frisbey born in Delaware, wife & daughter born...
