It's been awhile since I last posted, thought I'd try some new things out on an old portrait, and I think it's alright.

I welcome any and all comments and criticism, I am still finetuning the new 'process' (re-thinking my color choices).

Yes, it's perfect! And I tried to understand what you meant by "color choice" and compared this portrait to the one you use as profile pic. The skin tone is a little different, right? A little more on the pinkish side? Very convincing!
I like most what you did with all things "hairy". The hair on his head and his beard, I can almost "feel" the texture!
Really excellent, thank you, I enjoyed looking at it a lot!

Yes! Well said! I see this and feel like I could reach out, brush off his coat a bit, and then playfully tug on his beard. :)

Those of you who practice this art, it's like you breathe life back into your subjects. You make their hearts beat and blood rush again.

Such nice comments, it brought a smile to my face, quite rare these days. Thank you ma'ams.

Thank you! Yes, I chose to make it more bright, more affected by light and atmospheric light scattering, which means more blue, pink, and purple in the skin, as opposed to an oranger tone. Devil's in the details! I spent an hour after laying down all the color to really flesh out the details, to make sure the background didn't overlay on the beard and all the hairs were taken care of, especially on his majestic bristles.

But you left the hair on top of his head just as lousy as it was in the B&W! :whistling: To be honest I didn't pickup on that till you showed me the other B&W.
