I am looking for "Then and now" photos of the witness tree at Devil's Den in order to provide background information for this encaustic image of the tree I created. There is a photo in a post by Gettysburg Greg that shows a modern image of the tree next to an image by Weaver. Did you take the modern photo Gettysburg Greg? If so, when did you take the photo and can I use it to provide reference information for my artwork? Thanks!

Thank you so much! I want to properly credit the modern photo.
You are so very welcome. While you @ucvrelics and I wait for @Gettysburg Greg to come along, Im wondering if you might explain the process for creating an "encaustic image" and how/why you chose the witness tree at Devil's Den as your subject?

Encaustic ("to burn") is a process that uses pigmented beeswax and damar resin. It is a technique that was first used around 4,000 years ago. I have incorporated oil paint and pastels in my image. I created the piece as a tribute to a friend with whom I share a love of Civil War history. Devil's Den made a left an profound impression on me when I first visited Gettysburg as child; and I was amazed to learn in a return visit in recent years, that there are witness trees throughout the park. To me, the witness tree at Devil's Den seems to be the perfect symbol of fragility and strength.
