Ghosts of Devil's Den

While reading Mark Nesbitt's Ghosts of Gettysburg, I came across an intriguing story that is briefly mentioned at the bottom of page 14 concerning Devil's Den. In it he writes that in Jack McLaughin's Book Gettysburg: The Long Encampment, there is a photo taken by Walter Lane of Devil's Den showing the sloping ground towards Little Round Top that some who viewed the image swore they can see a face wearing a civil war kepi. I believe that is this photo below. Can anyone spot the so-called face?

Personally believe that photographs of known famous battlefield scenes can trigger perception biases in some viewers who identify/interpret (unrealistically) spotted shapes in the scene to have a connection to what happened. (For example. If no battle was known to have occurred in this pictured scene, would a viewer still as readily make out a shape seen to resemble some battlefield image, like a 'soldier's face wearing a kepi').

Out of interest. Did you spot the image mentioned in this scene?

The faces I've seen are all on the left side of the photo. The second is my best guess.

Looks like two men in the dark trees to the right. One possibly holding a rifle about to charge up hill. The other looks like he is looking at the camera right over the other soldiers shoulder. I don't believe in ghosts, but trees have a funny way of making things look like figures from the past.

Yes I see that too. I was just staring at that part myself after having responded previously. But I was looking hard to try and see "something else" after my first response so casually looking at the image, I completely missed that one during my first glance.

That appears to just be a part of the branches and the white rocks behind them.
