The top image is from P. S. Weaver's series depicting Union soldiers posing as dead among the rock of Devil's Den. This particular image is seldom seen because of the poor quality however, the silhouette of the rocks is clear enough to match up well with a modern photo for an interesting then and now. As you can see Weaver's camera was located near were the present Devil's Den sign sits. More difficult to see in Weaver's photograph are the same soldiers seen in several other images recorded that day in November of 1863 playing dead among the rocks.

Stood there! Stood there! Our sentinels Then & Now. I don't know if this is true for anyone else, but this immediate area of Devil's Den strikes me as one of the least changed areas of the battlefield. It is at this location that I feel the closest connection to the war.
