Deeds for rocks

I was told that the rock on which the Zook Monument sits was bought by the 57th NY {?) and has a "deed" to it. Anyone heard about that? This same person said there is another rock in the park with a deed but he would not tell me what/where it is. Anyone know about this one?

This was very common, just google Gettysburg monument deeds and you will see that there are many of them. Before a unit spent money on erecting a monument they wanted to make sure that they had a deed to the land (not a rock) as over time and development some have been moved or tried to have them moved. The 72nd Penn and the trolley company comes to mind.
