The "White Elephant of Mobile" herself, sputtering down the Tombigbee at a blistering walking pace! I made this model from a 3D printed game piece designed by Eastcoast Ironclads which I altered a bit with some spare photo etch.

WOW you have quite a talent. Very well done.

Years ago I tried to build a resin 1/700 US Navy destroyer from WW2. I could not handle the photo etch and gave up.
How did you do the water effect ?
I used hot glue to form the basic shape of the wake and swell around the ship, then I used a lighter to heat up a metal sculpting tool to shape the globs of glue into something that resembled waves. After painting the water, I covered it in glossy clearcote then covered all of it with Elmer's clear pva glue which I also stippled a little to give texture to the river.

Yes and I have a 1/350 scale Indianapolis kit with photo etch staring at me.
I understand.

Many years ago, I purchased Iron Shipwright's 1/350 USS Brooklyn (ACR-3).
A beautiful kit. Back then we had to order photo etch from a separate company, I think Tom's Model Works.
It was one of the only photo etch companies around during those days.

Anyway ... I gave up after two months of trying.

The USS Brooklyn was way above my talent level.

Lovely work , She was converted either from a cotton lighter, or a garbage scow, sources differ. Whatever she was she was apparently rotten underneath when the armour was removed for CSS Nashville.
