This source contains the following series of very detailed first person reminiscences of the sinking of the Alabama:

Life on the Alabama (by one of the crew) / P. D. Haywood -- page 901

Cruise and Combats of the "Alabama" (by her Executive Officer) / John McIntosh Kell -- page 911

The Duel between the Alabama and the Kearsarge (by the surgeon of the Kearsarge) / John M. Browne — page 923

As an odd footnote, Very few accounts mention the presence of the French Navy. The ironclad Couronne (The iron hulled 4th member of the Gloire class) accompanied CSS Alabama to sea and was present at the battle as an observer. Interestingly the turret ship HMS Royal Sovereign was due to visit Cherbourg on a shakedown cruise - and with a slight twist to the timeline, could also have been present.
