Greetings,
I have a CSN naval cutlass and partial scabbard for sale. This is an unmarked Confederate version of the M1841 Union cutlass from which it was copied. This cutlass very closely matches those made by Thomas Griswold but is believed to have been made by Charles Welford of Catherine's Furnace near Chancellorsville. The fish scale brass grip is tight to the blade and shows the three distinct indentations of t
he rivets used on the Yankee version from which it was copied. The brass grip has the high copper content and sand casting pattern prevalent in Southern made swords. The leather washer is present and the blade is very good with only very minor nicks. The partial leather scabbard is dry, delicate, missing the drag and has been repaired where broken. It is a good separate display piece as the repair prevents the cutlass from seating in the scabbard. This cutlass/ scabbard were acquired from a well known highly regarded CW dealer. I have another similar cutlass or I would not be letting it go. Asking $2200 shipped in the U.S. Thank you for looking! Jonl51
