Anyone have an idea of approx date and origin of this buckle? It was in a box I picked up at an auction in Lottsburg, VA this past weekend. Thinking someone was just fooling around in their shop but not sure. Any info is much appreciated. Thank you.

I'm thinking cool piece but not real. That is for a modern belt I think. Also, I've never seen a lead filled rectangular buckle before. May be wrong though.

I think you'e right. I definitey didn' think it was real but like you said, I've never seen one like this made of lead. Maybe someone toying around the shop or made for a recreation. Who knows but it' unique enough to go in the collection. Lol. Thx!

Like I said earlier, probably for modern belt.

Not even close. as @Package4 states its a fantasy piece and not even a reproduction.

Someone stamped these out of thin brass and sold them cheap on ebay. I have several that I bought the shells (different patterns) to play with. The brass is too thin and the stamping too shallow to be mistaken for a real military item but they can be made to look good.
