Real or Faux? CSA belt buckle

I like that Louisiana buckle too. The South had many interesting buckles. The North's were kind of bland IMHO.

The book that G low suggested will help tremendously. Confederate plates start in the thousands with exceptions for wishbone buckles. Any stamped with dates like that are fakes. The hooks are another way to identify or authenticate and these hooks are also incorrect. Still worth wearing though

Beat me to it. I've seen original CS buckles priced in the thousands. $27 for anything more than a dropped bullet is probably fake.

There was an influx of British imported buckles firing the Centennial. I bet it is one of these. I once like this with a VA instead of CSA. They tend to have more copper in the mix.
