Hanover brass sells an exact copy of this buckle off his website. Originals were English made for the Confederacy per GW. It is a nice copy and I plan to wear it with my uniform. I like it!

I don't know. Not an expert. Thought the English supplied the Confederacy with war goods hoping to supplement their textile industry in the event of a Confederate victory.

Doesn't look like a Hanover Brass plate, compare the workmanship on the letters "CSA". On the back the "CS" and "1864" are stamped where the casting sprue was ground off. YMMV
