Cream Sponge Cake -
Two Eggs and the yolks of two more
One and one half cups of sugar,
half a cup of water,
one and a half cups of flour
one and a half teaspoonfuls of baking powder
the grated rind of a lemon
Bake in three layers take one pint of milk - sweeten to taste, yolk of one egg,
one tablespoon of corn starch,
one teaspoonful of vanilla
Boil the milk, add the corn starch that has been smoothly mixed with a little of the cold milk, sugar and flavoring, spread between layers of the cake putting one upon the other.
