Wondering if I could get some help or pointed in the right direction for Cpl James Davis, who served in Co I (2nd) of the 21st VA Cavalry (Peter's Regt).

Well, there's not much in the way of surviving service records for him. Just one card and it says that he enlisted 2 Apr 1863 in Wytheville, VA for a period of 3 years and was still present at the end of June.

Unfortunately I haven't found an easy way to scan through Virginia pension records and James Davis gets a LOT of hits. You may need to take some time going through each possible file one by one.
