Any further details on James Harvey- "sent to mines"?

Yes, he was sent to work in the mines he had worked at before the war, the Silver Hill mine in southern Davidson County. There was a deposit of Silver at that site and before the war several attempts had been made to make it a profitable mine but it never quite got there. Part of the problem was that the silver was mixed in with a lot of lead. So during the war the CS Government used the mine for lead production for bullets. These bullets had trace amounts of silver mixed in so you could say they were shooting the federals with silver bullets.

I had relatives in Company K, 53rd NC from Wilkes County, including a first cousin four times removed, Lt. Thomas Charles Land, and his nephews, Captain William J. Miller (KIA on the first day at Gettysburg). Lt. Thomas C. Miller, wounded and captured at Gettysburg, and Henry Harrison Miller, wounded at Gettysburg.

I am also lucky enough to find pictures for two of my relatives. The first is My 4x Great Grandfather Benjamin Holder, who was a Lieutenant in Co. F of the 1st SC Cavalry. The other is 4x Great Uncle Zaddock Hooker Davis of the 20th Alabama Infantry. He was wounded and captured at both Champion Hill and Nashville.
