Hi everyone! I built two data bases. The small one (5,700 files) are all the ships, CSN, USN and QM and the bigger file (166,000 files) are all who served, CSN, CSMC, USN, USMC, River and Coastal Pilots. I can combine the two files, so I can go to a specific ship or station and see all that served there. I have about 300 books, mostly reference books. I'll gladly take donations of reference material. I will also look up people for anyone. My files will contain when and where someone was killed, also if they deserted. If you question why I have so many files (166,000), I had to make a file for each ship/assignment. Some of these guys had more than ten ships. Glad to hear anyone.

Sounds like a great project and useful resource! We hope you'll join in discussions here, including the Naval Forum, which is one of those listed here:

What a great resource! Do you plan to make it available online for anyone to use?
I doubt it, but if know that I have it and want to check a name I have no problem running it. I am doing other projects. I am listing all the USA and CSA army units. It will just be a list at this time. Most likely 5,000 plus. As I said before, my work consists of two separate data bases. The smaller one, the ships, I try enter as much information as possible, the length, width, tonnage, how many guns, when and where built, prior names, how many crew members, etc. Most of that information is hard to come by. But, if you have any inquires you contact me at [email protected]

Thank you! Naval service records are a lot harder to research so any help is great to have

A couple of sites you should already have (or not);
