This is of a 1895 pattern cap. Fraternal orders commonly would copy whatever military style was at hand or popular at the time..... would fall into the 1895-1910ish era
This one is a bit of an oddity. It has a Greek Rite - Catholic cross insignia in the front within the wreath... sometimes also referred to as the Eastern Rite or Eastern Orthodox... this sect was slightly different from the Greek Orthodox Church... However Im not aware of any fraternity group within that church bearing a "SOJ" abbreviation.... yet it could also be an abbreviation of a particular rank or role position within the group just as well...
