Some articles here and a link to Civil War Artifacts at the Smithsonian. I found the artifacts to be very interesting, sadly I have never had an opportunity to visit the Smithsonian but hope to one day soon.

I went last summer to Washington and the Smithsonian. They have all kinds of wonderful items. The best items I saw was the actual chairs that General Lee and General Grant sat in during the surrender at Appomattox Court House.
