Christmas Pound Cake
One and one half cupfuls butter
3 cupfuls sugar
seven eggs
1 1.2 pints flour
1 teaspoonful baking powder
one teaspoonful of nutmeg

rub the butter and sugar to white light cream, add 3 of the eggs 1 at a time, and the others two at a time, beating each five minutes between each addition; add the flour sifted with the baking powder, then the nutmeg or other flavoring; mix in a smooth, medium batter, pour into a paper lined tin and bake fifty minute in a steady oven.
