Cherokee Warrior?

Can someone tell me if this illustration depicts a Confederate Cherokee Warrior? I'm assuming it is but would like some elaboration if possible.

While I'm here, any illustrations that can be provided of the Union Indian Home Guard would be greatly appreciated.

I'd say that man would depict, in the most general sense, any Indian in the trans Mississipi theater.
