Cast Brass Block I buttons

Bronze? I didn't know there was such a thing. There were cast brass buttons made. I got a Columbus Depot jacket from Wambaugh and White that came with cast brass I buttons that are pretty cool, maybe reach out to them for a source. I think Parsley Brass was making them but they're currently not in business. Try Hanover Brass maybe.

Cool, what are you working on?
A custom jacket based on some photos of Two 42nd Alabama soldiers, one of the photos has what appears to be federal eagle buttons the other I can't tell, but based on information of the buttons dug at the Alabama Parole Camps after Vicksburg, cast brass block I buttons have almost exclusively been found. I like the look of them so I want to go with a cast button over the federal eagle.

I don't think the real ones were all that smooth and neat either.
They came in today, they are a bit rough (photos included), but I agree that the hand cast original ones would have been the same in finish. The original dug cast I button I own is not rough at all but I suspect it was a factory cast and easier to control quality. I still think I will use these as they are still neat. What do yall think?

The Hanover Brass ones look alot better in the photos but I never got a response to the email I sent them.

I bought some cast pewter block I buttons from Button Baron as well. Those are more late war though, Ill save them for something else or sell them.
