I've been thinking Confederate buttons, and I gotta ask, how widespread an area were cast pewter buttons seen? Or rather what areas of the CSA they have been located when doing some hunting?

I know my good ole compadre Tom has told me he's never dug one up west of the Mississippi, even though I would think surely a few have turned up somewhere. Even though the revelation he's actually found more than a few brass CSA buttons in old camps in even Arkansas where everyone swears they never were says he would know…

And I believe our own @UCVRelics has found more than a few in the Deep South if memory serves.

I've just got bit by the random question of how common they were in and what time periods of the war. Block I's C's or A's whichever matters not to me. Just a random question.

I've found quiet a few rough cast eagle buttons in N Miss CS camps, and was with a guy who found a beautiful cast I at Resaca
