I always love bread pudding. This recipe is from "Old Time Recipes To Enjoy", "The Kentucky Explorer Magazine", February, 2016.

Caramel Bread Pudding

Four cups of milk, one half cup and two third cups of sugar, two cups of stale bread crumbs, two eggs, one half teaspoon of salt, and one teaspoon of vanilla.

Sounds tasty! Grandmother made a Bread Pudding with raisins. I remember some of the ingredients may have been vanilla, stale bread pieces, cinnamon, sugar, maybe egg....it was delicious, too. Memory says she baked it as a casserole. She served it with a little milk over it while warm.
Aaaaaw .... I would have loved that one, too!! Warm and sweet food always makes me a little sick, but nevertheless I do love it!!
Just have to have a slice of salami afterwards, puts everything in order again! :D

Caramel Bread Pudding

Four cups of milk, one half cup and two third cups of sugar, two cups of stale bread crumbs, two eggs, one half teaspoon of salt, and one teaspoon of vanilla. Caramelize one half cup of sugar and add to milk which has been scalded in a double boiler. When caramel has dissolved, add bread crumbs and let soak for 30 minutes. Beat eggs slightly, add two third cups of sugar, salt, and vanilla. Add to first mixture, turn into a buttered pudding dish, and bake in a moderate oven for one hour. Serve with whipped cream sweetened and flavored with vanilla.
