Cannonball or paperweight?

Hello Ladies and Gents,
Not sure if what I have is just a paperweight or maybe a cannonball. A family member picked it up
for free after an estate sale at which nobody knew what it was. It is very close to 3.87 inches in diameter and weighs 8.2 lbs. with a seam down the middle. Could be one of those milling balls used
for grinding? Thank you!

I believe its a mill ball or some such gadget. Its size is too large for a six pounder and much too small for a pre-war nine pounder. Furthermore, its weight doesn't correspond to any smooth-bore gun i am familiar with.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I vote paperweight.

Paperweight
