There used to be a quilt store right in the middle of the Franklin Battlefield and I would just sit on it's porch in a rocking chair and enjoy the scenery-it's always good when there is something for everyone on a shopping trip.
Yes it is said to have been used by the Confederacy. The Michigan Military Heritage History Museum seems to only have limited information about it. Donald Cartwright donated to the museum up on his death.
They claim it is a Model 1831E built in 1836. Probably did not serve until the Mexican American War. Transferred to the Arkansas State Militia after the Mexican American War. Used by the Confederate Army. Captured in Georgia by Union troops in 1865.
