C.S.S Alabama

Been looking for the most thorough , complete book about the Alabama. Have found a few but not really sure about which is best. Any ideas or recommendations would be appreciated, also any books about Raphael Semmes . Thanks 🏴‍☠️
CSS Alabama Anatomy of a Confederate Raider - Andrew Bowcock
Compiled with original documents, contract and specifications. Drawings of Hull and Decks, Sails and Rigging, Armament and Machinery. All known photographs and some paintings are included. A comprehensive work on the ship itself.
Confederate Raider Raphael Semmes of the Alabama - John M. Taylor The complete edition, there is also a condensed version.

The Official Records of the Union and Confederate Navies (OSN) might provide useful information to supplement any complete work on Semmes and the Alabama. The OSN contains correspondences, as well as extracts from the Journal of Captain Semmes, commanding the CSS Alabama. The OSN can be freely accessed online.

Although not a complete work dedicated to the specific subject, there is a well-written comprehensive coverage of the activities of Semmes and the Alabama found in 'Gray Raiders of the Sea' by Chester G. Hearn (at pp 161 - 236).

This work also conveniently lists and details the captures by each Confederate raider, including the CSS Alabama, in its Appendix.

There might be useful additional information in this reference too.
