Looking For More Information.

Most of you who are familiar with Alexander Gardner's Photographic Sketch Book Of The Civil War will recognize this picture of "A Fancy Group In Front Of Petersburg."

Photographer David Knox recorded two images of this subject with a large plate camera. I recently came across a third, stereoview he produced of this group which was new to me. Another partial contact print exists, also from this negative. I have no idea where the originals are.

If anyone knows about this new material I would appreciate learning more about it. Hopefully we can complete the record for this bit of history.

Maj. Gen. Orlando Wilcox's headquarters were located somewhere near the Shand House along modern day Hickory Hill road near the Park Service headquarters.
