C. Rouyer artillery button

I did see on another forum that you thought it was an ordnance button, and no one there yet has caught on it was a rare Confederate Louisiana. Think you'll do better here with buttons.

I've had better luck here, honestly. The first thing I did after putting that button on ebay was coming here and posting a link.

that may have been a misinterpretation of my comment, Bob. I shared a rouyer backmark and noted that the flaming bomb is associated with ordnance and European military but I know rouyer is from New Orleans. I didn't say it was an ordnance button though, did someone else say it was? I apologize if my comment was confusing.

I recall the very first comment i got was about the ordnance emblem but I wasn't taking any one comment as anything but opinion.

All good. Before I saw the backmark, I was pretty sure it was a French button.

Nope, I wasn't confused by anything you said. As I said, it was on another forum. Johnkris often posts his finds on another forum as well as this one when seeking info. No problem with that. On that forum he added this button into a thread about Ordnance buttons, but no one properly identified it for him. Actually, last I saw, don't think he even got a reply.
