Hey guys just now joining and trying to finding out what this is? I was in a hunting club at 8 miles from the battle of Raymond and I found this buckle lying on top of the ground, not dug. The place use to be a working plantation and I was thinking one of the worker might have found because it was beside a old shack, thanks for any help.

What you have is Model 1881 cavalry buckle for a cartridge belt. It should be marked on the tongue Anson Mill's

Even though this buckle is not from the civil war it's still a great find. Congratulations and thanks for posting it up. Keep looking around that plantation, McPherson's Corps traveled up through that area to the battle of Raymond.
