Real or Faux? Brass spurs

I was cleaning out some boxes of antiques trying to make some room when I happened upon these spurs. What do you guys think, i remember picking them up in a box lot from a military collectors estate about a year ago.

They are real spurs but they are not Union issue. I have found spurs of this style in CS cav camps but you have to remember that the CS army did not issue any and all CS cav troops brought there own horse and equipment and back then every man with a horse had spurs. What period they are from is the question.
