At a recent function, I was given the title of a highly regarded book regarding the Overland Campaign, which followed a regiment from the Northeast from Wilderness to Cold Harbor. Written by a soldier, hoping someone here could help me out.
THanks

One of Grant's commanders in the field, General Humphrey's wrote one on the full campaign. He was a significant part of the final push with Sheridan toward Appomattox, such as Namozine Church, and the Deep Creek line. Jefferson Davis escaped by railroad just ahead of him and south near Amelia Courthouse. It may not be the regiment, but it may be the Division commander you were thinking of.
Lubliner.
