This is Albert Hartson Boies 1844-1930 he served in the 4th Michigan Infantry. He joined the Hudson Zouave Cadets (Juvenile ) in Hudson Michiagn as a musician. In September of 1861 he joined the 4th Michiagn Infantry as a musician. Being a musician did not keep him out of battles. He was in 21 battles during the war and wounded four times. He was left for dead at Marvin Hill. He was shot in the chest and captured at Gettysburg, but escaped. He fought during the Spanish American War and served as a recruiting officer during World War One.
I am trying to decide if this was his Hudson Zouave Cadet uniforms a a musician uniform while in the 4th Michiagn. The only information I have on the Hudson Zouave Cadet uniform is the young men wore blue shirts, red pants and kepis, but it would seem possible they upgraded their uniforms before Boies left that fall. Any thoughts on this being a 4th Michigan Infantry uniform?
