Blunderbuss help

With Story pointing out the ramrod, could this be something like a movie prop?
Come to think of this, I recall from a visit to the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul in the early 1980's where there were stalls crammed with weapons like this. Some parts, like the wooden stocks may have been original to something but the ones I could handle seem to be made of junk, pot metal and were obviously made for decoration and they did look nice. That's why I asked if there was a working vent at the pan. Also the frizzens would not spark, at least the ones I was allowed to try. Sgt. Story may be right about this. Anyone in the OP's family ever serve in the Middle East during the Cold War?

First person accounts trump hearsay.

Well, it has a touchhole. Whether that's bored through to the chamber or not, we should talk about safety.

In all likelihood, there is no charge in the chamber but it would behoove your household to check. The instructions are simple

... but if you have any doubts, reach out to a local friend (preferably one competent with muzzleloaders, perhaps a season hunter) to check your barrel.
