What is this? Weapons used in this photo

This is one of my favorite photos in my collection and I think the reasoning is obvious. Besides the info I know about this particular man, it just looks cool! I'm trying to figure out what he's posing with, because to be truthful, I know nothing about period weaponry. Could they have been his, or photograph props? Are they unique enough to ID a photographer? Any help is appreciated!

Don't know what the pistol is but the musket is a M1816 Springfield, can't see the lock but most likely a conversion. Was it his? Possibly, it was a common CS weapon early on. You never know though with studio photos.

It seems I see more original pics of muskets/rifles without slings, regardless of portrait or field pics. Of course it may just be me looking for that specifically.

The pistol is a Colt Root revolver. The musket is a .69 M1816, most likely a conversion as has been mentioned up thread.

These were 'show off' portraits which also explains the parade uniforms worn by many. They could pose with their issue weapons if the photographer's studio was set up in or near a barracks or fort. As others have said, finding out which were is the hard bit. It seems to have happened in the Western Theater much more than in the East.

So this is the convoluted part. He was bounced back and forth between B and F companies, so I'm pretty sure it's the same guy.
