We've heard a lot about black Confederates, and it's evident that many individuals who are identified as black Confederates appeared decades after the war at various reunions, etc. Moreover, as we see in this forum, there are a number of individual members who have spent a great deal of time researching reports and assembling biographical information of these people.
But what do we know about these people, what they did, where they cast their political allegiance, etc., during Reconstruction? I'd like to know.
