Nah wrong century, wrong war, raided Grandpas closet, Shrunk over the years and too small for his big head. Go back and milk the cows and stop playing soldier until you age a few years. Then you can wear a real ACW head piece.
Are you speaking of the photo, the state, a joke, or myself?

I gotta admit, this gent is quite dapper...

@52ndFandS Regarding the kid from Florida, I believe lots of them soldiered pretty young in those days, at least compared to the present times.

Very true. Milton basically told the CS Congress and war depth. that he would be furnish more troops provided they could grow up first.

A paraphrase of course but the reality was apparent in that photograph. They also called up state millita to the east and west.

Au contre, sir! General Maxcy Gregg, CSA wore a Tricorne hat, as did some Confederate regiments.

As a 1Lt. in the Fort Bragg Military Police Corps I remember when an Army Reserve Unit came for their two-week training session back around 1969. The Officers were wearing cavalry hats somewhat like the Wild West cavalry officers wore. The Post Commander told the senior Army Reserve Officer that the hats were not military issue and that he had directed the MP's to cite anyone wearing non-military issue covers. The PX sold a lot of hats.

I like the tricorn look myself. Maybe its just a "If its good enough for Frederick.the Great........." kinda thing.

After the war some western U.S. cavalry officers are pictured wearing a sort of bicorn looking affair. Some how those things seem to have lost something in the translation though.

Nothing special about the hat but the method of wearing it is a little different. The only man in the company that didn't suffer from hat hair.

He must of slept in late during uniform issue and ended up with whatever was left. Wonder if his pants were poor fitting too, very high waters. Or maybe the Supply Sergeant had a beef with him and issued him that as a joke.
