Alright alright, while it may be a cap and not a hat, ill have to say Hiram Berdan is up there on my personal list.
As a fan of the Kepi and the Forage cap, seeing a green type 2 forage cap with a beautiful McDowell brim, and what im assuming is USSS embroidered insignia.... Its such a sexy cap I can't help but have it at least my top 10.
A personal favorite - Three Lieutenants- 105th Ohio. Taken on the march during the Tullahoma Campaign, I believe. Great Hardee hats and a lot of other cool things in the pic.

The soldier on the left is Albion Tourgee. Although largely forgotten now he was a revered fighter for civil rights. After the war he moved to North Carolina and helped write their constitution. He was an author, businessman, attorney and judge. He coined the term 'colorblind justice' and was the lead attorney in the Plessy vs. Ferguson case.
