Bayonet info?

I really wish I knew what the inscription said. Doesn't seem to match any names of makers I have seen on various bayonets photos online from that time.

I just received an answer back from Tim, he thinks it is an American made bayonet with characteristics of both English (reinforcing rim around the rear socket) and French (the blade). He says that many bayonets of this period were stamped; he also says without examining it in person his best guess is American. He is going to forward the pictures to a couple of bayonet experts and see what they think. Stay tuned.

I couldn't agree more. I really appreciate everyone's help and input. I have been on other forums (not civil war related, of various other topics) and people have never been very helpful. Being new to this site I have found it to be the opposite and people seem to be willing to help with any input they can provide which is awesome. To me that's what it is all about. Awesome thanks. I will have a brown bess availble shortly so I can see it it even fits on one. Might help narrow it down some. If it doesn't fit then it is most likely french model.

I finally attempted to see if it would fit on a Brown Bess and it seems to be to small which would lead me to believe it would probably fit on a Charleville which I believe has a smaller barrel.
