Bayonet help

Thanks for add! I have this M1855 bayonet and was wondering if the F below the US denotes where it was made or the inspector. Also the 55 stamped above the US. Help please.

Toddeyl - The "F" is an Inspector's mark. There is no way to determine the actual manufacturer of the bayonet by that mark that I know of. The bold "55" overstamp is most likely a post-war unit designation.

55 is probably a rack #. Also probably fits a 61 springfield.
