In doing some research, I came across some Confederate POWs from Deas Brigade that were captured August 3rd by the 15th Corps. Can anyone provide any details as to where the brigade was located and what may have transpired? This was a few days before Utoy Creek.

Any help is appreciated. I know only the basics in regard to the war in the West. I deal mostly with the ANV.

During the Atlanta campaign, the two armies were in constant combat along skirmish lines. Some of the heavy skirmishing rivalled some of the smaller "battles" fought elsewhere. Some veterans called it the "Hundred Days' Battle."

The Veterans of the Sixth Iowa Volunteers, (2nd Brig., 4th Division, Fifteenth Corps) recalled of the actions in their vicinity on August 3-4 opposed by Deas' brigade...

On July 28 was the Battle of Ezra Church, during which the Confederates unsuccessfully assaulted the Fifteenth Corps.

General Deas' brigade was a part of Hindman's division.
