Lee Chapel recently reopened again. It had been closed for some time. Now I know why......
Here's a few pics:
The front was closed as they are doing some cosmetic repairs to the exterior.
The inside of the chapel looks the same as my last visit a couple years ago. Completely sanitized of anything Lee (or Washington).
Behind the BS Wall, Edward Valentine's Recumbent Lee looks the same. Only the surroundings have changed (again).

His office is unchanged except for this:
Some of the missing plaques/placards have been put in displays inside the museum which is finally reopened. Of course you aren't allowed to interpret any of this stuff yourself, so they have a bunch of nonsense on display throughout.
Cowards. The whole thing was pretty disheartening. They nevered miss an opportunity to dump on Lee or his supporters. Unless of course they can take something out of context to attempt and justify their interpretation. I didn't photograph everything. After reading a few of the half truths and out of context BS the University is pushing in this sacred place, I stopped reading/photographing all of it.
The folks who despise Lee should dig what they've done. It made me nauseous. Honestly, the over the top security is odd to say the least. They have guards at both entrances, metal detectors at both as well. I asked them how many other buildings on campus have this type of security..? The reply was, only this one. I said, protecting it from your own students..?
I wish they would sell the chapel to a nonprofit who actually appreciated it.
