Maybe figured it out?!??? Found it when tilling garden in McDonough, Ga. Any ideas on the "button" ?

Also have had this Savannah River (so I've been told) about 3.5 inches long with chipped tip for about 31 years. Found in Jonesboro, Ga. Not sure what it's worth with a chipped tip but it's a nice conversational piece.

When posting there should be three buttons/options at the bottom of this typing box area. "Post Reply"..."Upload a File" and "More Options". Click on "Upload a File" and it should allow you to choose from your pictures and documents much like ForeverFree mentioned.

Well done Cat.

Looking at the pictures it appears to be a civilian type button. Made of brass? Hard to say whether it is Civil War period or not as the popularity of civilian buttons and their use is hard to pinpoint as they usually have no backmark. And they were used for greater lengths of time whereas military buttons with backmarks can directly identify a specific time.
