Evening folks,

Picked up another neat piece...all there, good condition Spencer carbine. Pretty happy to be the new caretaker for this piece of history.

Here to ask for the usual help with SRS serial number lookup, if anyone's willing. I'd greatly appreciate it, though I understand a hit is unlikely....and that near hits are not guaranteed accurate....

Serial no. 34269, please.

THANKS

We would love to see photos of your new beauty. If you could post some photos of the serial # and makers marks we can take a look and see if it shows up on the SRS.

I like the way you put that. None of us really own anything. One of these days, it will go to someone else, and they won't really own it either. We just have possession of it for a while.
Anyway, I have a Spencer 1860 Infantry Rifle. Have never found anything on the serial #, but, needless to say, I would love to.

I know one guy who "Took it with him". He had it stipulated in his will that his favorite musket was to be buried with him when he passed away. When he did pass away some years later, I went to the funeral service, sure enough there was his favorite musket in the coffin right beside him, and that's how the coffin was sealed after the services. That's a little extreme for me!

I'm going the other way when I go. I have it in my will to be cremated and my ashes fired out of one of my CS cannons at Shiloh. I'm sure my brother and my SCV camp will make it happen.

Thanks guys...nice exchange. Long work day/weekend. I'm beat. Will get pics up next weekend when I'm off.

What a waste...

Ok, finally uploading some shots of my new baby, including one of the serial number. Hope they're ok. There are a few various proof marks, but no visible cartouche. I assume this means private purchase, assuming also that an inspector's stamp didn't just wear off.

Very Nice Piece. Below is the range of serial #'s that your Spencer falls in but remember that if it isn't listed, it isn't listed. The Cartouches on the left side on the butt are typically weak so don't count out it being a military issue.
