Another Day In Camp, James River

This won't be everyone's interest, just sometimes get intrigued by these photos of camps. There's so much going on, tough to see all of it- a moment in Time, frozen for us. Just another day at war to everyone in the photo.

I think this may be the 2nd Corp, other photos similar have that description-

Good stuff - the battles are deservedly the focal point of the war, but the day-to-day reality was that far more time was spent waiting around in camp

Wagons in the foreground have 6th Corp insignias on them.

One says hospitol, the other forage. a third facing head on says something else and has a different emblem.

SO glad walks through these LoC photos are riveting to all of you, too. Camp scenes flatten me. Library of Congress gives you the option to download a tif file. They're massive and extremely clear. It allows you to blow them up and catch details even if you do not have terrific editing software on your computer.

This is part of the encampment on Belle Plain, Virginia. One of my all-time favorite photo series. Brady must have been enchanted by something there, too. He certainly allowed all of us his perspective on it. I'll find the other threads on the same place. It's where the famous photo of the 2nd Corp mail wagon is taken. So- 6th and 2nd Corp- love those details. Thank you!

I think you can see Brady's whatsit wagon between two tents in the background below the boat.

I think the covered wagon on the right is marked the same as the one in the foreground with "forage" marking on the bottom... the angle of view along with the canvas cover distorted by the supporting ribs of the cover makes it hard to decipher

I can just make out forage on it.
