After the war ...

does anyone know of any notable confederates - either military or politician- who has documented statements on record after the war, arguing for equal rights for former slaves or condemning the kkk and their activities? Or condemning secession and the states reasons for secession within the states articles of secession? If not condemning - at least saying, on second thought it didn't make sense and we should have just slowly transitioned away from slavery instead? Or anything pro Lincoln?

Curious for interesting stories.
